Join one of my intermediate- to advanced-level workshops and learn how to make one of these beautiful tapestry crochet bags.
The workshops include the yarn, printed charts, a full PDF pattern by email, and light refreshments. You only need bring along a 3.5mm and 4.0mm crochet hook and a shoe box.
Workshops start promptly at 9:30am and end around 1:00pm (half-day) or 4:00pm (if full-day)
Half-day workshops are held over two sessions, two to three weeks apart. The price quoted includes BOTH sessions.
All my students receive a voucher for 50% off all of my patterns. The voucher is for their personal use and does not expire. They can also request to be added to my newsletter list to hear about new patterns as they are published.

A new range of Tapestry Crochet Bags for children!
I have designed and made a range of small bags suitable for children. They are 25 to 27cm tall and 40 to 42 cm in circumference, with an oval base, a simple closure, and two straps so they can be worn by a 3-4 year old as a little backpack.
The bags feature cute animals – cats, rockets, ellies – and are bright and colourful.

I have a new range of Cross-body pouch patterns, which include an optional Kumihimo Japanese Braiding strap (or you can use a purchased cord, or make your own twisted cord – instructions are included)
These handy little pouches are lined and have a zippered closure, and are perfect for when you are popping out and don’t want to carry more than your phone, keys, card and lipstick
Patterns are USD 5 or ZAR 60 each. Email me at tapestrycrochetandcraft@gmail.com to place your order

About the bags & contact details
I started designing my own tapestry crochet bags in October 2016, having been inspired by the wonderful Mochila bags of the Wayuu tribe of South America.
After many trials and wrong turns, I finally settled on a design I felt was most practical. Many of the patterns have an African feel to them as I am inspired by the colours and fabrics of Africa every day.
The bags are worked in a soft, 100% double knit (light Worsted) or Aran (Worsted) weight cotton yarn. They’re unlined and have a drawstring closure. The straps are made with either macrame or chain darning. (Both methods are explained in the patterns and workshops)
I am based in Midrand, between Johannesburg and Tshwane. I hold regular workshops at my studio and have also taught workshops at various homes and yarn shops around Gauteng and in KZN and Cape Town. I’m available to teach classes of up to eight people at any local venue.
I am now including Kumihimo Japanese Braiding with some of my designs. I have taught several workshops so far – to adults and children. Kumihimo is an interesting and versatile craft that is becoming more popular, especially among the younger crafters.
Recently, I released patterns for a Baby Blanket in Interlocking crochet, and a Mosaic Throw which uses surface stitches and two different yarn cakes to produce a stunning effect. (See illustrations on this page)
